Roggenstock (1,777m)

Björn and Sandra were nice enough to take me along on one of their snowshoe trips. These seem to be a new pandemic tradition for them. We arrived in separate cars - prioritizing surviving the pandemic over climate change for a bit ;-) We got super lucky with the weather - the forecast was only mediocre but we ended up with a perfect bluebird day. The route we chose started in a small ski resort but luckily left the crowded slopes pretty soon. It was still a popular area with ski touring folks, so we could see a few groups of varying skill levels. It is beginner friendly and quite a few people were apparently taking their first careful runs on unprepared slopes.

I'm feelin' okay this mornin'
And you know
We're on a road to paradise
Here we go, here we go
Look at that nice pyramid shape in the distance.
Sandra and Björn. My guides on this expedition.
Sun coming up over the ridge.
Final steep bit towards the summit.
Summit cross.
We circled the mountain and went back down the other side.

Sandra practicing her mad selfie skillz.
Having a blast running straight down steep powder slopes.
Switzerland. Can't have restaurants open during a pandemic, so you just turn them into self serve stops with a piggy bank.
There was still quite a bit of snow.
