Climbing Holzegg & Kid's Birthday Party

Marzia celebrated her third birthday last Saturday. The kid's party was scheduled for the afternoon, so Luigi and I decided to squeeze in some cragging at Holzegg before the weather turned sour. We climbed about half a dozen routes. This time I was booked on the fail train. I didn't manage to climb even a single route in the 6b and up difficulty range cleanly. Ah well. We had a bunch of bad night's sleep with Lukas suffering from a Rota virus infection followed by a cold. So I have at least half an excuse.

Marzia's party was nice. Luigi and Silvia have access to a roof terasse with beautiful views over lake Zürich. We had enough time for unwrapping gifts and enjoying food before menacing clouds moved in. Instead of lamenting the change of weather we turned it into an advantage and launched a kite in the gusts of wind before the thunderstorm. Great fun.

Luigi befriending the locals on the hike in.

One of the harder pitches we climbed, a 6b+. Luigi led it cleanly while I just flailed around and sat on the rope.

The name says it all...

The wall features mostly one or two pitch long routes. We established camp at the top of the first pitch and branched into different second pitches.

Corona doesn't have to be a bad thing.
